3.1. Hearing of Audience
CITIZEN'S REQUEST TO SPEAK The Board appreciates patrons taking time to talk to us about our policies and procedures. We set aside a 30-minute maximum time period at every regular meeting to hear from the public. Your comments should be directed towards board policies or the procedures our administrators establish to carry out those policies. This is not an appropriate time or place for patrons to make comments of a personal nature about any district employee or student. Board Members cannot legally comment about personnel or students. If a patron or parent has a concern with one or more employee(s), the board will refer that person to the appropriate employee or the superintendent. If the Board refers your concern to an administrator for investigation, the board will follow up at a future meeting. THE HEARING OF AUDIENCE WILL BE GOVERNED BY THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES: 1. Visitors wishing to speak must complete a "REQUEST TO SPEAK FORM" and give it to the clerk before the meeting. 2. Each speaker is asked to use the podium, identify themselves, state if they represent a group, and confine their time to a two-minute period. 3. The Board President has the option to stop the proceedings and poll the Board to determine if a speaker may continue. 4. The Board President may ask groups with the same interest to appoint a spokesperson to deliver the group's message. Except to ask clarifying questions, Board Members shall not interact with speakers at the Hearing of Audience. |
